Assistant Coach Radhika Hettiarachchi

Mr. Radhika Hettiarachchi serves as the Assistant Coach and Backs Coach for the 1st XV team of Royal Rugby, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to his role. At 45 years old and hailing from Kandy, Mr. Hettiarachchi is an alumnus of Dharmaraja College - Kandy and holds a Level 2 coaching qualification. With 12 years of coaching experience, he has guided teams to significant achievements, including being the Head Coach of the 2013 league-winning team at Dharmaraja College, securing a runner-up position in the U-18 rugby 7s Cup in 2022, and third place in the 2023 schools rugby league for Royal College. His playing career has been equally impressive, with national representation in both rugby 7s and XV formats between 1998 and 2010. Mr. Hettiarachchi has captained Sri Lanka rugby 7s team in 2003, 2004, 2009, and 2010, including leading the team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Mr. Hettiarachchi has been recognized for his outstanding performance at club league, being named the best player in 2002, the best three-quarter in 2003, and the best captain in 2004. His extensive background in both playing and coaching positions him as a highly effective leader and mentor for aspiring rugby players at Royal College Colombo.
